The Firehouse Cultural Center, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, was first developed and sponsored as a project of the Ruskin Community Development Foundation (RCDF), a nonprofit focused on supporting the development of significant community projects
The Vision of the Firehouse Cultural Center is to be a multi-use, cultural and educational facility that is a vital catalyst and a resource for the diverse SouthShore community and region.
The Mission of the Firehouse Cultural Center is to offer quality programming with a focus on a full spectrum of the arts, and on education for all ages. Center programs encourage participation, engagement, discovery and learning. Firehouse Center will offer experiential connections to the arts and to the unique history, culture and natural environment of the south county region.
The Center stimulates, supports and encourages economic opportunity, contributing to Ruskin’s downtown development and to building a tangible sense of place.
Have time & talent to spare? The Firehouse Cultural Center can certainly use your volunteer help to achieve their mission. Be aware that All volunteers must provide their own transportation.
Following are just two of the volunteer positions needed.
Volunteer Opportunity #1:
Clerical: knowledge of basic office skills, answering telephone, filing to organization required. Knowledge of Word & Excel a plus.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 10am-5pm. 1/2 days or whole day option.
Volunteer Opportunity #2:
Events Volunteer: Attend meetings & training prior to events. Assist with event set-up and/or take-down; must be able move, lift, carry at least 10lbs.
Events take place on weekends during the day or in the evening. Firehouse Cultural Center (FCC) Events range from its annual Blues & BBQ, Family Holiday Concert, Video Art Festival to its Annual Bourbon on the Bayou.
